Changes to tuition remission coming Fall 2025
A new tuition remission framework starts Fall 2025 (FY26). Learn more on the FY26 Changes for Tuition Remission Eligibility for RA, TA, PA, and LSA web page.
Current tuition remission information is in the sections below.
Virtual office hour sessions are available on April 30 and May 15 for those who want to learn more and would like the opportunity to ask questions:
Tuition Remission (also referred to as a waiver) is a benefit to graduate and professional students holding a Research Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Program/Project Assistant or Lecturer Student Assistant appointment to help alleviate the cost of tuition. The non-resident and instructional tuition charges are waived for eligible graduate and professional students. Segregated fees are not waived.
Graduate and professional students eligible for a Fellowship or Eligible Instructional Academic Staff title remission will only have their non-resident tuition waived.
Students enrolled in a program with a service-based pricing tuition structure may accept graduate assistantships (including those above 33.33%); however, they will not receive the tuition remission that is typically part of the compensation package for a graduate assistantship. For more information, please refer to your department.
If you are expecting a Tuition Remission waiver, but it is not reflected on your student account bill, please contact your Department.
